Gayle Palmer Davis, age 83, of Centerville, Utah, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the North Canyon Care Center in Bountiful, Utah.
Born in Burley, Idaho on December 7, 1934 to William Wendell and Mary B. Palmer, she was the oldest of three children.
During her childhood, Gayle lived in Burley, ID, Topaz, UT, Malad, ID, Bismarck, ND, and Lander WY. After graduating from Lander High School in 1953, she attended Brigham Young University, where she received her Bachelor's degree in Home Economics, with a minor in music.
Gayle married Reed K. Davis on May 29, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. Reed and Gayle both graduated from BYU and were married in the same week. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year, 60 years together as eternal companions. Reed and Gayle raised their family in Bellevue, WA, Albuquerque, NM, Tempe, AZ, Pocatello, ID and Centerville, UT.
Gayle had a great love for music and was an accomplished pianist. While growing up, she played the piano while her father and sister, Sue, sang along. She taught piano lessons throughout the years, including her own children. In her later years, she played for visitors in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and LDS Conference Center.
She taught her children how to work hard, be creative and find ways to accomplish goals, be self-sufficient, learn the gospel, and have fun together as a family and create memories. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening.
Gayle was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served many years as ward organist and pianist, Relief Society president, and various other callings. She loved serving others in her callings and was grateful for the service provided to her as she suffered many health problems in recent years.
She is survived by her loving husband, Reed; five children, Byron (Becky), Dianne (Blair), Brent (Linda), Merilee (Troy), Melinda (Russ); twelve grandchildren, Amy, Ryan, Scott, Jeremy, Taylor, Jaxson, Sydney, Josh, Cassie, Megan, Chad, Cody: six great-grandchildren, Jill, Tanner, Cole, Kigen, Eliza, and Ellinor.
