Our Loving Mother, Gene Eleanor Metcalf Bradley completed her mission here on earth, August 22, 2017. She was born August 27, 1927 in Santa Rosa, California, to Franklin Henry Metcalf and Sarah Louisa Rawlings. She married Robert Lincoln Bradley in the Salt Lake City Temple, March 26, 1948 and they had ten children: Michael, Randy (Cheryl), Melanie Beardall (Brent), Bruce (Cathy), Gary (Iris), Richard (Nanci), Brian, Jolene, Wendy Brimhall (Rob), Jamie (Charlene). Also loving grandmother to 37 grandchildren and 54 great grandchildren.
Gene’s greatest accomplishment is her 10 children. She loved them dearly and always tried to guide them in the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She always supported her husband during his years in the Service with National Guard and at Hill AFB, always there to take care of the family when he was away. She always loved music and encouraged her family to participate and love music too. She will be remembered for her persistent faith in God and her determination to keep the commandments and keep order in her home and in her life which was her greatest desire.
She attended Lincoln Elementary, Granite Jr. High, Granite High School, graduating in 1945. She worked at Utah Home Fire Insurance, Johnsons Ice Cream and Bardsley Surveys.
She was a faithful member of the LDS Church serving in many callings including chorister in Primary for 17 years and Relief Society President. She felt she served a mission with her husband while he was a Stake Missionary for 7 years. Always active in Missionary work, sending 5 sons and many grandchildren on missions.
She was keeper of the family records. She researched and recorded and did Temple work for many names for the family and also shared her records and discovered many cousins through her research. She loved traveling especially if it included genealogy research, also boating and water skiing with her family. She held many positions as a member of the Utah DUP and held many positions on the county board and as chorister. She loved crocheting and her many baby booties and special baby bassinet purses and many other items were given away as gifts.
She and Robert lived in Salt Lake City, Clearfield and retired in Centerville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, three brothers and one sister, and two grandchildren. She is survived by two sisters, Lois Lockyer, West Valley, and Pauline Biesinger (Taylor), St. George.
Services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, August 28, 2017 at the Park Ward, 1125 N. 400 W., Centerville, Utah. Viewings will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm, Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, Utah, and Monday morning from 9:45-10:45 am at the church prior to the service. Interment in the Centerville City Cemetery.
