Geneel Rands

On Friday July 4th 2014 in the early morning hours we said farewell to our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Friend: Geneel Rands. Geneel is survived by her Husband – Duane Rands, her Sisters – Renee and Floydella; her 8 Children – Doug (Colleen), Duane Floyd (Vicky), James, Jyllynn Brown(Jay), Neil (Lein), Craig, Chrystyl Buttars(Norbert), Leland (Lorrie) 24 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grand Children as well as numerous “adopted children” she considered family.
Geneel was born in Salt Lake City, UT on June 5, 1940 to Lena Marie Lee Olsen and Wilford Floyd Olsen. Geneel Married the love of her life, Duane on Sept 27, 1957 in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Geneel had an open and kind heart that lit up any room she came into, and her caring inclusive nature made her a second “Mom” to many. Geneel loved to spend her free time completing genealogy for the church and her family, she enjoyed singing in the Church Choir, making scrapbooks or crocheting. She was also an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, where she had just been called to serve another office.
She possessed a rare quality of spirit; devoting herself wholly to others as well as to everything that she did. She was a light and example of selflessness to others. These qualities live on in the many hearts that she touched over her life, Geneel will never be forgotten.
The viewing will be on Friday July 11, 2014 from 6pm to 8pm at the Orchard 3rd Ward Stake House [291 E Center St, North Salt Lake] with the service taking place on Saturday July 12th 2014 at 2:00 PM with a viewing prior to service from 12:00 to 1:45 also at the Orchard 3rd Ward Stake House.
