George Alfred Hawkins passed away April 5, 2015. He was born February 1, 1934 in Blanding, Utah to Clifton and Pearl Black Hawkins. George grew up in Cache Valley, then attended high school in Hurricane and St. George, Utah. He graduated from Dixie College where he met his wife to be, Merial Musig. He served in the US Army in Germany. He and Merial married in the St. George LDS Temple June 29, 1957. He graduated in Civil Engineering from Utah State University. He spent his working career with the Federal Aviation Administration. George and Merial made their home in Bountiful where they raised six children: Susan (Drew) Hyer, John (Cheryl), Sylvia (Brad) Vallace, Glen, Merilee Heckel, and Brian (Elizabeth). He is survived by 24 grandchildren.
He and Merial served in the California Arcadia Mission.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his only brother, Leon.
George was very talented in many areas. He restored antique cars, motorcycles & a tractor, did woodwork, ceramics, and published eight books. He even built his own archery equipment, canoe and guitar.
George was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. His posterity was everything to him. He will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, where a viewing will beheld Tuesday evening from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
