George S. Bertram passed away at his home in Centerville, Utah, age 70, of unknown cause. He was born November 28, 1953, in Bountiful, Utah, the only son of Elvira Maria Barrutia Bertram and Leendert (Len) Bertram. His surviving sister is Linda Marie Bertram, of Centerville.
George grew up in Bountiful, Utah and graduated from Viewmont High School class of 1972. There, he met Susan Anderson, who he married years later, but they eventually divorced. He attended trade school studying electrical technology. George spent most of his career working in the transportation industry. He eventually was hired as a bus driver for the Salt Lake City School District. Driving a school bus was a pleasure for George, who had fun teasing and entertaining the school children with his sharp wit. After he retired, George lived a quiet life, preferring a small circle of friends and limited socializing. He loved good jokes, had a sarcastic dry sense of humor, and his favorite answer when asked a question was: "who needs to know?"
George loved cars, electronics, gardening, and music. He was passionately committed to caring for his late mother's beloved lawn and garden for many years, even after her death. Mowing a lawn never seemed like work to George, it brought him joy.
George and Linda shared a duplex in Centerville and were never far apart from one another.
George is survived by his sister, Linda Marie Bertram. He is preceded in death by his father, Leendert (Len) Bertram, and mother, Elvira Maria Barrutia-Bertram, Uncles, Aunts, and many cousins.
Special thanks to wonderful friends, Zach, Rhyan, and Tammy, who are exceptional, caring, neighbors.
To honor George's life a private gathering for family and close friends will be held.
