George Clinton Ball

May 30, 1926 — August 9, 2017

George Clinton Ball, Jr. passed away at his home in Woods Cross, UT on the morning of August 9, 2017. He was 91 years old. George was born on May 30, 1926 to George Clinton Ball, Sr, and Ruth Griffith Ball. He grew up in Farmington and attended Davis High School. George married Jessie Lish on November 21, 1953. They were married for 63 years.

George enlisted in the Navy during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater, based on the Tutuila Islands with the rank of Petty Officer, 2nd Class, as a Specialty Rating Salvage Diver and Metalsmith. After returning from the War he went to work at the Clearfield Naval Base, and then Hill Air Force Base, where he retired in 1986 after 41 years and 11 months as an Aircraft Sheet Metal Quality Assurance Supervisor.

George loved working with his hands, building and fixing things. He could always be found fixing cars or working on just about anything around his, and many other people’s houses. He could do electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work, building several additions to his own home. If anything needed to be fixed, he was the one people called, and he was always happy and available to help. He loved camping, fishing, and deer hunting and could often be found hauling his trailer and motorcycles up to Blacksmith Fork or the Uinta mountains with his family. The family always looked forward to the annual Easter trip to Moab. He often came back from those trips with a load of wood he then used to feed his wood burning stoves to heat his house in the winter.

George is survived by his wife, Jessie, and their children Alan Ball (Jana) of South Jordan, UT, and Debra Huber (John) of Gilbert, AZ, and 6 grandchildren, Stetson, Dakota, and McKinsey Ball, and Jacob, Zachary, and Noah Huber. He is survived by sisters LaRue Moore and Doris Mullery. He is also survived by daughters from a previous marriage, Vickie Griego and Sherrie Brunmier, both of Riverside, CA. George was preceded in death by sisters Fay Jackson and Artell O’Keefe, brother Don Ball, and infant daughter Suzann.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Russon Brother’s Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, UT. A viewing will be held at the mortuary from 9:45 to 10:45 am prior to the service. Interment will be at the Farmington City Cemetery.
