George Edward Haddock, 84, of Bountiful, Utah, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20, 2025. He was born in Clifton, Arizona, on September 30, 1940, to Loyal George Haddock and Amy Emily Bigler.
Ed grew up in Tucson, Arizona. He was a gymnast in high school, when he was not working and developing his skills as a mechanic. He served his country in the Navy as a mechanic. He eventually settled in Citrus Heights, California, where he and his wife Sue spent 30 years raising their family. In 2000, he and his wife moved to Windham, Maine, where they enjoyed a new chapter of life together.
On April 15, 1966, Ed married Susan Thompson, and together they raised five children. Ed and Sue were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 17, 1968. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities wherever he lived.
From a young age, Ed developed a love for cars, a passion that began out of necessity while repairing his own cars, and evolved into a lifelong hobby. He loved spending time restoring his 1931 Model A Ford “Cranky” and loved giving the grandchildren rides. He was an active member of the Model A Club in Maine and enjoyed meeting with and going on rides with them.
Professionally, Ed spent most of his career working in technical writing and computer services. He had a great analytical mind and was a problem solver. He was an avid reader with an affinity for Westerns. Known for his kindness and compassion, he was a man who made others feel valued and cared for. His family and friends will deeply miss his steady presence and love for family.
Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife Susan, his parents, his sister Norma Lee Goodman and her husband Dale, and his brother-in-law Ron Higginbotham.
He is survived by his siblings: Venice Higginbotham, James Haddock (Char), and Ruth Christensen (Roy); his five children: Dru Bischof of Citrus Heights, CA; Sean Haddock (Tanya) of Citrus Heights, CA; David Haddock (Kristen) of Midvale, UT; Heather Brammer (Mike) of North Salt Lake, UT; and Suzy Cropper (Bryce) of West Jordan, UT; as well as 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
His family is deeply grateful to his caring home health nurses and staff at Creekside Assisted Living in Bountiful for their excellent care over the past four years.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 954 West 1100 North, North Salt Lake, Utah. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel.
