George Herbert Cady passed away May 18 2015 at the William E Christofferson Veterans Nursing Home in Salt Lake City. Born on July 30 1934 in Rutland, Vermont, he enjoyed sports and played basketball, football and track while attending high school in Rutland and played basketball while attending Cornell University at Ithaca, NY. He joined the US Army in 1953 and married his high school sweetheart, Jayne Nault in June of 1954 at Monterey, California – later being converted and baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on 2 Jul 1964. He served 26 years in the US Army on foreign duty in Germany three times, Turkey and Vietnam and stateside in California twice, Texas twice, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major. After retirement from the army, he worked for the Post Office in Killeen, Texas and then in Bountiful, Utah, retiring from the Post Office in 1996. A year later he and Jayne served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the New Hampshire, Manchester Mission, microfilming vital records in Vermont. George held many leadership callings in the church, his favorite being Stake Extraction Leader for the Bountiful Central Stake – a calling he held for many years. George is still serving his fellow man since he donated his body to the University of Utah School of Medicine. Survivors include his wife Jayne, 5 children, 21 grandchildren and an increasing number of great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donate to the Perpetual Education Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter Day Saints.
