George Terry Johnson

Our dad, grandpa, honey, and friend passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2011 in Salt Lake City. He was born January 28, 1939 in Salt Lake City to George A Johnson and Thora Jane Gale. Married Karen Thomas on June 17, 1965 in the Salt Lake Temple. Graduated from West High School in 1957 and was all-state in football, basketball, and baseball (once a Panther always a Panther). He served a LDS mission in the Southern States Mission and later attended BYU and the University of Utah. He Loved to sing, watch old western movies, talk sports with his boys, and BBQ with the family. He especially loved reading books to his grandkids. He retired from the US Postal Service after 38 years of service. George has five children: Kari Ortiz, Terry “Teko” (Jody), Wendy Seidman (Jay), Jason (Monica), Todd (Lisa), 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Dick, Gale, and Duane; sister Helen Carroll; and son Teko. A visitation with family and friends will be Sunday December 4, 2011 from 6-8 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary at 255 S 200 E, SLC. A memorial service will be held Monday December 5 at 12:00 pm (noon) at the Pioneer Stake Center 1401 W. 700 S. SLC with a viewing from 10:30 – 11:30 am. Interment, Elysian Burial Gardens.
