George Rodney Heath

September 21, 1942 — May 25, 2022

Rod was born on September 21, 1942, in Salt Lake City.  He passed away peacefully on May 25, 2022.

Rod was the oldest son of George Albert Heath and Jane LaRee Wilcox Heath.  He graduated from Highland High School in Salt Lake City and served one year in the U.S. Army in Texas. Following his service, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kentucky in the Eastern States Mission.

Upon his return home, he attended the University of Utah where he met his future wife, Ann Hales of Murray, Utah.  They married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 21, 1966.  He attended dental school at the University of Louisville and after graduating at the top of his class, he was accepted to orthodontic school at Loma Linda University in California.  After graduation, he and Ann moved back to Utah where he practiced orthodontics in Midvale, Ogden, and Bountiful for 42 years.

Dr. Heath loved his career straightening teeth and bringing smiles to his many patients.  Over the years, he recruited his whole family to join him in working at the office in various roles.

After retiring in 2012, Rod and Ann served two years together in the Hungary Budapest mission and helped local wards and branches with their finances.

Rod loved traveling the world with Ann. Camping in their trailer with family was fun in their early years and traveling the world on a cruise ship was their favorite adventure in later years. Spending time with brothers, sisters, friends, children, and grandchildren was always an important part of those trips.

Rod is survived by his loving wife Ann, their four children, Lisa (Ezra) Richards, David (Emily) Heath, Jenny Smith, Jon (Kati) Heath, and fifteen grandchildren.  He also is survived by brothers Craig (Melanie) Heath and Mike (Sharon) Heath, sister Gayle Mender, and brother-in-law Merlin Driggs.  He was preceded in death by his sister Sally Driggs.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022, at the Mueller Park 2nd Ward, 1825 South 800 East, Bountiful, Utah.  Friends and family may visit from 9:45–10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service.  Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.

Services will be streamed live on Russon Mortuary & Crematory page and this obituary page.
