George Sale III (Pop Pop)

Biography

George Thomas Sale III, 82, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2014. He was the only child of George T. Sale Jr. and Irma Peoples Sale. He was born and raised in Philadelphia PA until 17. George and his parents moved to Santa Fe NM to build a motel, Cottonwood Court. George went to an all boys school in PA and said Santa Fe was a nice change, to go to school with girls. George continued his education at the University of NM, he then transferred to Highlands University majoring in Biology and a minor in electronics. George joined the Navy after college getting an honorable discharge in June 1961. George met Lois Gunton through a blind date arranged by his best friend Doug Bacon. It took George three times to ask Lois to marry him before she said yes. They were married on August 29, 1958 in Albuquerque NM. They have two daughters Sharon and Sandra.
George was transferred to SLC by RCA. He later worked for HAFB in the Radar Evaluation Squadron. He moved his family to Clearfield. After retiring from HAFB George traveled many places with his friend Doug Bacon. George’s hobbies were fishing and model trains. He was a member of the Hostlers Train Club. George had a home in St. George and enjoyed being a snowbird.
George is survived by his daughters Sharon (Kenny) York, St. George, Sandra (David) Milman, Farmington. Two grandchildren, Eric and Brooke Milman.
Preceded in death by his wife Lois (1985), his parents, inlaws William and Mildred Gunton, his friend Doug Bacon and his special dog Mikey.
A special thank you to the staff of Apple Village for the great care they gave George and also to Harmony Hospice.
Dad, Pop Pop, you always kept your sense of humor through your struggle with Alzheimers. You will always be remembered.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N. Main St., Farmington, UT (across from Cherry Hill) Interment at Clearfield City Cemetery.
