Georgia Lea Reed

February 22, 1934 — October 3, 2016

Georgia Lea Reed, Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, age 82 of Farmington, Utah & Locust Grove, Oklahoma, returned to her most beloved Father in Heaven on October 3, 2016.

Georgia was born in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, on the 22nd day of February, 1934, the 3rd daughter of  Raymond and Mattie (Copeland) Reed.

Georgia is survived by her daughter-Brenda Sarpolus; 3 grandchildren-Heath (Tonya) Huffman, Heather (Tom) Hoang and Dustin Coury; 5 great grandchildren-Logan, Landon, Amia, Taylor and Baylor; and her sister Candis Shuster; and is preceded in death by her daughter JoEtte Coury; 2 sisters-Louise Powell, Joyce Langston; and her parents.

She was a beautiful, witty, multi-talented, smart woman, actively involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She delighted in spending as much time as she could with her family.  Cooking Sunday & holiday meals, sharing her talents through her arts and crafts, attending her "little ones' " (great grandchildren) sports events, concerts and recitals. For family and friends, she was never too busy to visit or take their call.  She found such joy in being surrounded by her family and friends.

She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving others throughout her life. She led by example and held many callings in Relief Society, Young Women’s, Primary, the Library, and was a faithful visiting teacher until her last days. She loved her Heavenly Father above all else. Her charity extended well beyond her church and community as a strong contributor to many charities, i.e. NCCS and Wounded Warriors.

Her hobbies were painting in oils, stained glass masterpieces, gardening (vegetable and floral), bird-loving, cooking, sewing for herself and the family.  She humbly accepted many awards for her talents as an artist, seamstress, her beautiful flower gardens and her fabulous canning recipes and special dishes.

Her most cherished memories were her years living in Locust Grove, OK on her ranch surrounded by the beautiful crystal clear spring fed Snake Creek and Spring Creek.  She loved watching the wildlife, feeding the birds, hiking the hills with her walking stick, gathering edible mushrooms, berries, nuts, fruits and wildflowers, splashing, wading, "dogpaddling" and inner tubing in the creek, gathering water cress for our salads, fishing, catching crawdads, collecting beautiful rocks (the ones with a hole in them were for good luck), and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. The only thing more magical to her was when she was able to share those moments and create unforgettable memories with her family when they came to visit.  She had an insatiable passion for life!

Georgia was greatly loved and will be missed beyond words by all that knew her. Her life was one of family, service and love.

Heaven no longer awaits her, for she has now arrived.  May God be with you ‘til we meet again!
