Georgine Phelps Steenblik

October 30, 1928 — February 27, 2023

Georgine Phelps Steenblik ended life where she began in Bountiful, Utah. She slipped through the veil on February 27, 2023, to join her sweetheart at the age of 94. Georgine was the last survivor of 16 children, 14 of them being half-siblings. She was born October 30, 1928, to Heber George Phelps and Maggie Bird Jahn on a little country farm on the corner of 500 South & 200 West in Bountiful, Utah. While waiting for her sweetheart who was serving a mission in the Netherlands, she worked as a switchboard operator for the phone company. On June 1, 1950, she married Joseph Hess Steenblik in the Salt Lake Temple. Their journey in life took them from Salt Lake City to Livermore, California while raising their five children. Opportunity knocked when a mission call came for a church building mission to the Netherlands and Germany from 1964-66. This experience is a fond memory of the family. After a few more years in Livermore, their journey took them to Farmington, Utah. As empty nesters, they found adventure in the redwoods of Fortuna, California where she enjoyed serving in many leadership callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They later found themselves back in Bountiful, Utah where Georgine was born. They served two separate missions to Nauvoo, Illinois and were privileged to support the rebuilding of the Nauvoo Temple. Most choice to her was her many years of service as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple. Georgine was always a faithful member of the Church and served diligently in many callings. She loved family history and studying the Gospel. She was also involved in civic duties over the years. She was an avid gardener, accomplished seamstress, loved to do handiwork and blessed her family with beautiful crocheted blankets and needlepoint. Above all, Georgine was dedicated to her family of five children, 18 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

Georgine is survived by her children, J. Randal (Kathy), Kent-deceased (Susan), Shauna (Logan) Jackson, Shellie (Ken) Hepworth, Janna (Jason) Bagley, 17 of her grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Joe, her parents, her son Kent and grandson Tom Hepworth.
