Gerald A. (Jerry) Janke, born March 26, 1931 to Paul and Erna Janke, he passed peacefully in his sleep Thursday September 7, 2017. One of seven children, dad learned hard work and a love of family from his parents. This love truly showed in the way he was with his grandkids. He loved them and they knew it. He served an honorable mission in Hawaii Islands. On his return he worked for the state of Utah in their key-punch department and found his second love, computers. He was a highly successful salesman of computer systems when computers were just being born. He was fascinated with technology and worked tirelessly to keep on top of all the new technology available in the world until the day he fell asleep.
Along with his love of computers, dad had a lot of love for his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even great-great grandchildren. He is survived by his five children, Sheri (Steve) Heslington, Scott (Jalair) Janke, Lauri Poulsen, Christy Harrison and Laurie Caldwell. Fifteen grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and his precious “Charlie” dog. Dad is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Janke as well as his parents, a brother and a brother-in-law.
For all those that knew dad, you know he loved to tell a joke, and sometimes he told them more than once. He will be laid to rest at the Murray City Cemetery and Dad always said, “People were dying to get in there!”
