Gerald L. Gardner, 83, of Bountiful, Utah died May 29, 2016 in his home of pancreatic cancer. He was born December 14, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Thomas Edward Gardner and Mary Ellen Shelton. He married Lois R. Eardley on June 8, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Gerald worked for 40 years in the glazier (glass) trade. He served faithfully in many callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After he and Lois retired, they served for two years in the Bountiful Temple, and served a 15 month mission in the Washington DC Temple. Lois preceded him in death in 1998. He later married Lois A. Johnson on March 13, 2010.

 

Gerald served in two branches of the military, four years in the Navy and two years in the Army.

 

Gerald enjoyed spending time with his in-laws in Bridger Valley, Wyoming. He loved playing baseball, water skiing, snow skiing, boating, traveling and family gatherings. He also loved spending time at his Bear Lake cabin with family and friends.

 

He is survived by his wife Lois Johnson Gardner; children: Debra (Craig) Hammond, Ann (Ron) Thompson, Robert (Lisa) Gardner and Brad Gardner; 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; step-children: Kris Johnson, Tressa (Todd) Cannon, Kurt (Ashley) Johnson, Rebecca (David) Killpack, Melissa (Scott) Hyde; 11 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Lois R. Eardley; sister, Mary Ellen Erickson, brother, Robert Keith Gardner.

 

Gerald leaves a legacy of love for family and service to others. We love him and will miss him.

 

The family would like to thank Heather, Jake and James from Rocky Mountain Hospice for their tender care of Gerald.

 

Funeral services for Gerald will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful 37th Ward, 1540 North 400 East, Bountiful, UT. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful and at the church on Friday morning from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
