Bountiful, Utah – Our beloved wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Great-great-grandmother, neighbor and friend, left mortality to return home to her Heavenly Father, July 1, 2015. She was born July 2, 1928 to Leland R. and Lavena B. Barnes. She married Glenn L. Evans, January 10th, 1944, and that marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.. She is survived by her wonderful husband of 71+ years, her son, Steven G. Evans (Patrice), daughter Sandra Lee Johnson (Richard), and a wonderful posterity consisting of 22 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, brother-in-law, sister, granddaughter, Kristen Evans, and son-in-law Richard A. Johnson.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions throughout her life from the Primary to the Relief Society, and as a wonderful support to her husband as he served as Bishop. They enjoyed serving for a short time in the Salt Lake Temple before she became ill, preventing further full time service.
Over and above her marvelous Church activity, which she loved with all her heart, she was a gifted musician, vocally and instrumentally (piano). She loved life, and her family ! Her greatest pleasure was preparing wonderful meals for the extended family whenever possible to gather them, and certainly on every major holiday. They loved their home in Bountiful, because it had a large room in the basement where tables could be set to feed huge groups, including her beloved family, and where most of their grandchildren came with their dates to watch movies and play games. There were countless hours spent in their home, and backyard with her cherished family. She sewed, quilted, gardened and canned food until the last year or two of her life. As you said to us on every visit Mom, “You don’t (didn’t) have to rush off!” We love you!
We wish to thank the wonderful people at Welcome Home Assisted Living and Tender Care Hospice for their tender and loving care and the considerations for our family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Bountiful 34th Ward, 540 North 1200 East. Friends and family may call Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Monday morning 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.
