BOUNTIFUL-Gilbert Nelson, 86, oldest son of Radcliffe Raymond & Thelma Rosley Nelson born September 2, 1928 in Genola, Utah, passed away peacefully February 2, 2015 at his home in Bountiful. He married his high school sweetheart, Anna Rae LeBaron, February 6, 1947 and was sealed in the Manti LDS Temple. He worked hard (a man of all trades) to support his family of 5 children. The first home was in Payson, Utah, then years in Salt Lake City, before a move in 1968 to Bountiful where Gilbert served as ward clerk for 5 bishops, 25 years as a temple worker, and many other callings. He served 4 missions, the 1st to Northwestern States leaving a wife and son at home, then 3 local missions.
Gilbert is loved dearly by his children: Dell Ray (Shonya), Jolene (Glenn) Crane, Steven L (Cathy), James Gilbert (Colleen), and Tamara (James) Zinn; his 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; his sister, Maureen Davis; brothers, Ronald (Dorothy), Darrell (Pat), Don (Donna), Jerry (Jayne), Gerry (Lorraine); and sister-in-law Sharon Nelson. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Buriness and Arnold, sister, Claris Ann, daughter-in-law Shonya Nelson, grandson Nathan James Nelson and great-grandson Rayce Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Bountiful 53rd Ward, 1356 North 650 East, where friends and family may call from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. prior to services. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the Santaquin Cemetery.
