Jill Thomason, our sweet momma, wife, aunt, sister, and friend, passed away on January 13th, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Nov 3rd, 1955 to Gilbert and Mary Moore, she grew up living a life rich with family and laughter. She adored her brother Billy, her older brother "Bud" (LaVaine Eastman Jr.) and older sister "Sis" (Mary Ellen Eastman). She was a social butterfly and had wonderful memories growing up with her nieces and nephews who were closer to her age.
In her teenage years, her family moved to southern California to work for her brother Bud's early business, Musician's Supply. Her brother was a giant in the music industry in his day, he also founded Guitar Player magazine. She attended Hoover High school in San Diego, CA, where she was on the drill team, and graduated in 1974. She enjoyed sewing, playing guitar, and camping with her family.
Jill met her "Cowboy" Dave while attending Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho in 1975 (where she also graduated and obtained her Associates Degree). They were married in the Idaho Falls temple in 1976. They moved to Utah where they raised 4 children.
They owned and operated Crown Billiards, a pool hall that is still running. Their patrons found a home away from home, where they came to enjoy some food, play pool, and bring their kids along to the all ages side. She called the regulars her "Crown hounds" and took good care of everyone.
Jill also worked for D.O.T.S, Close to my Heart, and Impressive Stamps as she was talented in the world of arts and crafts. She forged many lifelong friends in this community, with whom she would share her creativity and skills. She was able to travel for conventions, and was largely recognized in this community for her thoughtful crafts.
She also worked for the Davis School District as a Teachers Aid, Playground Assistant, Office Aid, and Custodian Administrator. She had a special gift with children; They gravitated to her instantly, and she had the gift of bringing up the morale in almost any situation.
Jill was an active member of the LDS Syracuse 7th Ward for the past 29 years. She was a mentor and a leader serving in Children's Primary and Relief Society. She loved the teachings of Jesus Christ, and lived her life as an example of these teachings. She was always serving generously with her time and resources, and she showed us how to be compassionate and accepting to people from all walks of life.
She will be remembered for her clever humor and wit, her loving services to all those needing a friend, and her encouragement when life became difficult. She brought love and light to all.
Jill is survived by her family : husband, David Bea Thomason (Syracuse, UT) daughters: Natalee Thomason, Marin Lia Thomason, Audree Jane Thomason; her child : Kaitlin Brooke Thomason ( all of Salt Lake City) ; And her Shitzu dog : Osker.
