On September 24, 2007, Glen Johnson Behling of Bountiful, Utah, slipped peacefully from this mortal sphere to his Heavenly Father and hosts of waiting loved ones; and with his passing went ?a mighty warrior in the kingdom of God.? He was born April 14, 1919 in Ogden, Utah to Franz Albert Gottlieb Behling and Agnes Sophia Johnson. He was the 4th of 5 sons and 3 daughters. He grew up in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Ogden High School in 1937. He received an associate of science degree from Weber college in 1939 and a B.S. degree from Utah State University in 1942 graduating as co-valedictorian of his class. Upon graduation, he took a job in Bridgeport, Connecticut with Remington Arms. He was recruited to work on the Manhattan Project and moved to Oakridge, Tennessee. From there he went to General Electric?s Hanford Plant in Richland, Washington; Morris Fuel Recovery Plant in Joliet, Illinois and Valecitos Nuclear Laboratory in Livermore, California. Richland was where he met his eternal companion, Beverly Darlene Clement. They were married September 17, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He is survived by his dear wife, Beverly, and their seven children; Larry Marie Behling; Leslie Merle-deceased Linton; Richard Shanna-divorced Behling; Karl Kathy Behling; Kathryn Scott Winsor; Mary Ann Steve Showell; and Paul Lynn Behling; 34 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. One great-grandchild previously deceased. His first love was for his Father in Heaven and he faithfully served Him in many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His testimony was strong and unwavering. He was blessed to enjoy service in a Stake Presidency, as a bishop, a Stake Patriarch, a temple ordinance worker, a sealer in the Oakland, California and Bountiful, Utah temples and was a faithful home teacher. He and Beverly also served a mission at the Cody, Wyoming visitor?s center 1983-1984. He truly loved and reverenced nature, spending many days in the mountains with a pack on his back with his buddies, sons, and/or grandchildren in tow. He loved baking pies for people he knew and doing other small kindnesses. He knew everyone and everyone knew him. You could not pass him without having a warm and friendly conversation. He was an avid reader and student of learning his entire life. So we honor you, our dear husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and teacher to all. Thank you for your legacy of love, devotion and service. You have truly enriched the lives of all who have known you. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2007 in the Bountiful 18th Ward Chapel located at 165 South 1000 East in Bountiful.
