BOUNTIFUL – Glen Dee Broderick died Wednesday, August 15 at Intermountain Medical Center. He was kind and compassionate to the very end. He was liked by those he met and loved by those who got to know him.
Dad was born on June 21, 1924 in Emery County, UT to Ferry and Fanny Broderick. He was the 4th child of 8 children.
Dad served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and after an honorable discharge returned to Salt Lake City to start his career as a machinist. It was on B Street in Salt Lake City when he met the love of his life, Lurrine Rasmussen. They married June 19, 1949 in Salt Lake City and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Dad and Mom spent 59 wonderful years together until Mom’s passing in 2008. He now moves forward to join up with Mom and continue making preparations for their eternal family.
Glen is survived by five children: Judy (Tom) Behunin, Ralph (Marian) Broderick, Dale (Gaylynn) Broderick, Sherry (Robin) Blaize and Steve (Julie) Broderick; 27 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren; sister Luelma (Tex) and brother Sherwin (Ann Marie).
Dad was a stalwart and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He accepted a wide variety of Ward and Stake callings. Dad and Mom served together for many years in the Bountiful Temple. Dad’s true calling and passion was to serve his family, friends, widows and fellow ward members in household repairs and other odd jobs.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 20 at 11 a.m. at the Val Verda Stake Center, 2651 South 500 West, Bountiful. Friends may call Sunday, August 19 from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, UT and Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
