Glen Dewey Swanger

February 2, 1924 — July 11, 2015

Catherine Mellville Swanger welcomed her husband Glen Dewey Swanger to join her loving arms in Heaven on July 11, 2015.  Glen and his sweetheart Cathy are finally together again and our family rejoices with them and their eternal reunion; he died peacefully surrounded by his loving children.  Our dad was born February 2, 1924 to George and Stella Swanger where he was raised with his brother Eugene and sister LaRue in Layton, Utah.  He was inducted into the Army Air Corp. May 3, 1943 and was first stationed at Hill Air Force Base.  This is how he met the love of his life, on a bus ride to work, and they married on August 5, 1947 in the Logan Temple.  Dad served all through Europe during World War II and received the bronze metal because of his actions during the Battle of the Bulge.  Mom and dad loved to travel and they traveled in style.  They either traveled on their motorcycle pulling a trailer or in a motorhome all throughout the Western United States.  One of dad’s favorite motorcycle trips was his journey to Inuvik up the Alaskan Highway all the way to the Arctic Circle.  Dad said it was literally a breathtaking adventure on a bike!  A trip he told stories about for many years.  We are so glad that Dad lived the life he wanted; full of friends, family, music, stories, and adventure.  Dad is survived by his five children; Susan, Diane (Paul Wheatly), Glen Jr., Holly (James Brown), Shane (Heather Ray); 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and sister LaRue Loock.  He is preceded in death by his sweetheart Catherine; his brother Eugene; and his mother and father.

A viewing will be held Sunday, July 19, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. and again Monday, July 20, 2015 from 12:45-1:45. We will honor his life at his Funeral Services to be held July 20th at 2 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street in Bountiful, Utah.  Dad will be layed to rest at the Bountiful Cemetery next to his beloved wife, his baby doll.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.russonmortuary.com
