Glenda Rigby

October 4, 1930 — January 15, 2013

Glenda Miller Rigby of Farmington, Utah peacefully returned home to her Heavenly Father and into the waiting arms of the love of her life, Lawrence Rex Rigby on January 15, 2013. She was born on October 4, 1930 in Salt Lake City to Glen and Wilma Goodridge Miller. Glenda lived her whole life in good ole “Farnigan” (as she called it). She attended Farmington Elementary on the hill where Monte Vista is now located and South Davis Junior High, where she played the trumpet in the school band. She went on to Davis High School where she served in many leadership positions, and as the Pro Schola President and graduated from LDS seminary. Glenda married Lawrence Rex Rigby on August 26, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were the proud parents of two sons, Ronald Rex Rigby and Randall L. Rigby. Glenda lived life to the fullest. She loved people and enjoyed serving her family, church and community. There wasn’t anything that Glenda couldn’t do. She could be seen around town driving her grey tractor doing good from pulling out a stump to scraping mud off the street after the mud slide. She was a very talented athlete, playing basketball, tennis, volleyball and softball (pitching until she was 70 years old). She taught swimming lessons at Lagoon and was a beautiful swimmer and was asked to attend a top school for synchronized swimming. She served the youth as coach, teacher, sports director, camp director and Young Women Ward and Stake President. She helped 31 young men attain the rank of eagle. She served in many church callings and was an outstanding Relief Society President in the Farmington First Ward. She was the first woman to serve on the Farmington City Council. She served as a church service missionary at the Church Office Building in Salt Lake and as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple for many years. In 2001 she was Woman of the Year in Farmington. That same year she participated in the Hill Cumorah Pageant as a cast member. She had many friends and went on trips with them as well as her family. Glenda, in her senior years, taught the young women at the youth correctional center located at the Davis County Jail. She was always optimistic and brought sunshine into the lives of others. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, William E. (Billy) Miller. She is survived by her two sons, Ron (Karen) Rigby, Randy (Sandra) Rigby and her brother, Charlie (Lorna) Miller, nine grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 from 6-8 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 North Main, Farmington and Wednesday, the 23rd from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Rock Church, 272 North Main Street, Farmington prior to the funeral service at 11 a.m. Mom you are Super Colossal!
