Glenn LeRoy Buhler
1927-2014
Glenn LeRoy Buhler age 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Centerville surrounded by his loved ones. Glenn was born October 29, 1927 in Kaysville, Utah to Walter and Wilma Buhler. Glenn grew up on a farm and learned a strong work ethic early in life from his father. Glenn had a remarkable passion for horses, lovingly cared for and rode them his entire life. Glenn served his country as a Merchant Marine from 1945 to 1948. Glenn married his sweetheart, Colleen Feller on August 6, 1948. They spent 66 beautiful years together, traveling, boating and enjoying life. Glenn was always building something, “tinkering around” in his garage. Glenn started his meat packing plant, “Glenn’s House of Meats” in 1961 in Syracuse, Utah and was extremely successful. He was well known for his salami and jerky. Many drove for miles to purchase his jerky. Glenn was the first in Davis County to start the chuck wagon breakfast for charity. He was also the first in the county to market smoked turkeys. Glenn loved the outdoors, working in his yard and spending time with his family. Glenn was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Survived by his wife, Colleen; children: Craig (Janet), Kaysville; Renee (Rick) Gunn, South Jordan; Danny, Centerville; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; his brother Russell, Kaysville; Sister, Norma Nelson, Bountiful. He was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Wilma; brother, Doyle, sister Doris Hensler, and brother, Verl. A viewing will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North main, Bountiful. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday June 12, 2014. With a viewing prior from 11:45 – 12:45 at Russon Brothers Mortuary. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com. Glenn, you will be deeply missed.
