Glenn L. Pace

Our husband, father, brother and grandfather passed away peacefully on May 16, 2017.  He was in his Bountiful home surrounded by his family who loved him deeply.  
Glenn was born in Provo, Utah on March 21, 1940 to Kenneth LeRoy Pace and Elizabeth Anna Wilde.  He graduated from Provo High School and attended Brigham Young University until he served a LDS Mission to the New England States.  Shortly after his return, he married his childhood sweetheart, Jolene Clayson in the Salt Lake Temple on June 7, 1963. Together they raised six children.  Glenn graduated from BYU with a Master of Accountancy Degree and worked as a certified public accountant.  He was successful in working for an international accounting firm and in real estate development.  
Called as a General Authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 6, 1985, Glenn served as second counselor in the Presiding Bishopric until his call to the First Quorum of the Seventy on October 3, 1992.  He served as the president of the North America Northwest Area, the Africa West Area, Australia Sydney North Mission and the North American Northeast Area.  Glenn worked for nine years in the Welfare Services Department of the Church, including four years as managing director.  
Glenn connected to people through his humor.  He was observant, intuitive, insightful and nonjudgmental.  As a genuine listener, he had a way of understanding our hearts.  
Glenn loved the history of the church, the prophet Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum.  He found strength in the lives and struggles of the early saints.  While in Africa, he taught these stories to the pioneering saints in preparing that beautiful country to receive their own temple. In his unique, accepting and personal way, Glenn was able to reach out to masses while loving the one.   
Glenn felt that family was the center of the gospel and cherished the privilege of performing many sealings in the temple.  He loved to testify that those on the other side are present in our lives.  Upon receiving emeritus status as a general authority, he said, "I have had many wonderful assignments.  Now it's time, to focus on my most important one; Dad and Grandpa."  His children have found joy watching his devotion and tenderness toward his sweetheart, eternal companion, and best friend Jolene.     
In the final days of Glenn's life, his family was flooded with expressions of gratitude from those he influenced.  They had felt their worth as Glenn loved them like the Savior does.  As family and friends gathered around his bed, Glenn's final heartfelt counsel was, "Look around you, notice the one who is hurting and love them."
Glenn is survived by his wife Jolene and their 6 children; Kyle (Leandra), Rikki (Ryan), Korey (Stephanie), Darin (Mandy), Brandon (Amy) and Joe'll (Rusty); 35 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  
Memorial services will be held.  A public viewing will be on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Bountiful 13th Ward Chapel at 1350 North 650 East, Bountiful, Utah from 6:00 – 8:00pm. On Saturday, the funeral services will also be at the Bountiful 13th Ward Chapel at 12:30pm with a public viewing prior to the funeral from 11:00am – 12:00pm.
