Glenn LeRoy Evans

April 19, 1926 — January 27, 2016

Bountiful, Utah – Our beloved Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Great, Great Grandfather, Brother, and Friend, graduated from mortal life to join his beloved sweetheart, Geri, and return to his Heavenly Father, January 27, 2016.  He was born April 19, 1926 to LeRoy E. and Dorthea (Dorothy) B. Evans in Ogden, Utah.  He married Geraldine (Geri) Barnes on January 10, 1944, and that marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  He is survived by his son, Steven G. Evans (Patrice), his daughter, Sandra L. Johnson (Richard), his brother, Larry S. Evans (Geri), and a marvelous posterity consisting of 22 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers, two brothers in law, one sister in law, a son in law (Richard Johnson) and a granddaughter, Kristen Evans.

He was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many wonderful calls including that of Bishop, and was supported throughout each call by his wonderful wife, Geri.   He served in the Bountiful Temple for several years.

He served his country during WWII as an MP in India.  He shared many stories with us, about the food, some accidents, a few arrests, but rarely mentioned any of the sordid details of war.

He made time for his family, friends, hunting, fishing, athletics (early on) golf, and horses.  He loved his time fishing or hunting with family members and taught each of them “how it was done” properly.  He loved horseback riding with dear friends, and family.  Our family was raised on wild game artfully prepared, and cooked all our lives.  Many fishing vacations to West Yellowstone, Montana, where his parents owned and operated a lodging camp, ended with a great fish fry and all you could eat hash browns and mushrooms picked wild in the forest.

All of his grandchildren made their way to their grandparent’s roomy home where they could commandeer the basement and watch movies, play pool, or play board games.  The popped corn was never at a shortage for the entire stay and was often accompanied by homemade ice cream.  Many were the hours spent in their backyard visiting as the children were playing with cousins.

He was loved by all who knew him, and will be missed by all of us on this side of the veil, but we can’t help but picture his sweetheart of 71+ years yesterday as she met him coming through the veil.  We hope they’re through weeping on each other’s shoulders and are romping and laughing together once more.  We love them!

We wish to thank the wonderful people of Welcome Home Assisted Living and Tender Care Hospice for their tender and loving care and considerations for our family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday February 1, 2016 at the Bountiful 34th Ward, 540 North 1200 East.  Friends and family may call Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, and Monday morning 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services.  Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com
