Gloria Frances Barraclough

Our precious, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Gloria Frances Barnewitz Barraclough passed away on January 15, 2017 at the age of 93 in Bountiful, Utah.  She is finally with her eternal companion and other loved ones.  Gloria was born on August 29, 1923 in Sacramento, California to Frank and Elizabeth (Betty) Lieser Barnewitz.  She loved everything about music including singing, playing the piano and guitar and tap dancing.  She took tap dancing lessons in elementary school.  Her love of reading at a young age helped her become an excellent student.  Gloria graduated from Sacramento High School in 1941 at age 17. 

Gloria always had a desire to continue her education and was able to return to college in her later years and earn a bachelor of arts and science degrees from Westminister College. 

Gloria met Harold Grant Barraclough who was stationed near her home town while he was serving in the Army.  They were married on March 4, 1944 in Sacramento, California.  They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in December that same year.

Gloria was preceeded in death by her husband,  Grant, her parents, a  grand daughter, Elizabeth Roderick and other dear loved ones and friends.  She is enjoying a glorious reunion with her eternal companion and loved ones she has missed for so many years.    

Gloria loved to oil paint and enjoyed traveling with her many friends.  She was a member of the Tap Dancing Grannies at the Bountiful Golden Years Center.  She loved singing in the ward choir and appreciated the love and support of her ward members and neighbors.

Gloria is survived by her children, Rob Barraclough (Jill), Pam Heath (Willliam), and Cheryl Little (David), 17 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Betty Ann Seader (Leonard) of Bothel Washington.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 11:00 am at Bountiful 16th Ward Chapel, 655 East 400 North. Viewings will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday morning from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
