Gordon “Gordy” Charles Searle, loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, of Lindenhurst, IL died tragically at the age of 46 on the morning of November 25, 2014. His life was taken unexpectedly in an automobile collision. Gordon was a kind, genuine person filled with sincerity, generosity, and integrity, whose smile & angelic voice brightened & lifted many hearts. He found good in everyone and was respected by all.
Born on May 15, 1968 in Murray, UT to loving and goodly parents, Gordon loved his hometown of Midvale, UT. He shared his athletic, musical, and leadership talents with his local ward, stake, and neighborhood communities. He attended Hillcrest High School, Utah State University, the University of Utah, and recently completed his MBA at Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. He worked for DISCOVER Financial Services for 24 years, most recently as a manager in Chicago for the past 7 years.
As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gordon served in numerous church callings, loved working with the youth, and was serving as the Bishop of the Lake Villa 1st Ward, Lake Villa, IL. He deeply treasured his family. His wife and children knew of his genuine love and will always be grateful for his gentle & playful nature. He made life fun.
Gordon served an honorable LDS mission in the Indianapolis, Indiana Mission. As an Eagle Scout, he exemplified the Scout Slogan “Do A Good Turn Daily” by always putting others’ needs before his own. His tender, genuine care will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Gordon is survived by his beloved wife, Sara, of 23 years; and his three children, Kayle (James) Cantua, Madison, and Jack. He is also survived by his mother, Carol Clark Searle and his five siblings; Lynne (Duane) Martin, Clark (Marion), Dwight (Kristi), Shelley (David) Keetch, and Christopher. Preceded in death by his father, Leon and a daughter, Carolynn.
Funeral services were held on November 29 in Illinois. A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 6 from 11am-1:45pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah, with graveside service to follow at 2:30pm at the Bountiful Memorial Park.
