Biography

March 9, 1955-April 2, 2013, 58 years young. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, passed from his earthly existence at home on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. He is the son of Richard Everett and Idonna Bennett Johnson.
He attended West High School. Served in the United States Army from 1972-1974 in Hawaii. Married Laurie Zarkou and had a son, Heath Johnson, they were later divorced. He married Julia Priestly and had a daugher, Amy Johnson. They were later divorced. Married Brenda Leishman, June 2, 1981 after a six day courtship, which has lasted two months shy of 32 years.
He made it very clear that Brenda’s five children were not step children they were his children. He did not believe in the word step.
He drove over the road for many years and Brenda traveled with him. They saw a lot of beautiful country. He had a nickname of Gordoon bestowed upon by his Uncle Frank Allen and he thought that was great. He had a philosophy that you like me or you hate me. Your choice. He had a very giving heart and would do anything for anybody.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda, 4 sons: Heath (Tara) Johnson, Rigby, Idaho, Jeffrey Leishman, Indianola, Utah, L. Scott Leishman, South Salt Lake, Utah, Lyn (Jessica) Leishman, Taylorsville, Utah,. Russell Leishman, Ogden, Utah; two daughters: Amy Johnson Yates, Murray, Utah, Jamie Leishman Durfey, South Salt Lake, Utah; 3 Brothers, Keith (Scooter) Johnson, West Valley,Utah, Ralph Johnson, Des Moines, WA, Ray Johnson, Bountiful, Utah; 2 sisters, Elaine Johnson, Salt Lake City, Utah, Carol Healy, West Valley, Utah; and our beloved Chihuahuas, Morgana, Sadie, and Sophia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin baby sisters, many uncles and aunts.
There will be a viewing Monday, April 8, 2013, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm and Tuesday, April 9, 2013, from 11:00 to 11:45 am, at the Russon Brother Mortuary. 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah. Burial and graveside services will be Tuesday at Camp Williams Cemetery at 1:00 pm, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers donations accepted at any US Bank in the name of the Gordon Johnson Memorial Fund, anything would be appreciated.
