Gordon Keith Allred

August 9, 1926 — December 28, 2021

Gordon Keith Allred, at the age of 95, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021. Our father was a caring and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his large family and all those who knew him.

Our father was born on 09 August 1926 to loving parents, Douglas A. and Ivy May Skipworth Allred. He was the oldest of four children. He grew up in Cardston, Alberta, Canada and was always proud of his Canadian Heritage. He loved to sing the Canadian Anthem, ‘O Canada’, whenever he crossed the Canadian Border. He spent many memorable summers with his family in Waterton, Alberta, Canada.

Dad married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Brewerton, on 11 June 1946, in the Cardston Alberta Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He had his eye on Mom since the time he moved to Cardston in the 5th grade. There Dad was active in church, school, and loved participating in sports. For many years, he held the province of Alberta record for the 50 yard dash. If you didn’t know, he was very competitive.

When our father left for college, he went to Brigham Young University, Provo while our mother went to University of Utah. Being separated by 40 miles didn’t last long. After getting married, both attended Idaho State University, Pocatello, Idaho. At ISU Dad received a degree in Pharmacy, and their first child was born. After graduation, Idaho Falls became home, followed by Medford, Oregon where 2 more children were born; then onto Los Angeles, California where the family was completed with 2 more children. Not long after that, they moved to Long Beach, California where the family lived on Golden Avenue for many, many years. Dad bought Allied Medical and Surgical Company, selling medical supplies and also Allied Rexall Drug, where he was able to be the friendly corner pharmacist. In 1982 they made their final move to Bountiful, Utah where dad would call home until his passing.

If you knew our father, you knew of his strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He served faithfully while raising his family and then long into his golden years. His callings included Bishop, Stake President, Patriarch, Bountiful Temple Ordinance Worker, Bountiful Temple Sealer, and a very faithful, diligent home teacher to many. He was a loving example of serving others.

His legacy will live on through his children, Douglas C. B. (Melissa), Michael Gordon, Julie Allred Coles (Brent), Charisse Allred Johnson (David) and Tracy A. (Lisa), 25 grandchildren, and 48 great-grandchildren. Two siblings are still living, Douglas Allred and Marilyn Allred Bennett. He has now been reunited with his sweetheart of 75 years, Kathleen Brewerton Allred. They are now together for eternity. He is also reunited with his parents Douglas and Ivy May Allred, sister Mona Allred Millett, granddaughter Tamara Lottie Allred, and his in-laws Gordon & Lottie Brewerton.

Thank you specifically to Paige, Hospice RN, Marissa, Hospice CNA and Courtney, his social worker, from Inspiration Home and Hospice, for their kind and tender care of our father these last weeks. We are grateful to all of his medical care team.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main St., Bountiful, Utah, where a viewing will be held from 8:30-9:30 a.m. prior to services.
