Gordon Olsen

Biography

Gordon Clifford Olsen, born June 14, 1932, died Oct. 19, 2014. Husband of Louan Olsen, Son of John William Olsen and Ellen Blattmann Olsen. Married Barbara Bibee Olsen June 18, 1958. They are parents to 5 children. They later divorced. Married Louan Ashbaker Olsen in Nov. 1985.
Born and raised in Salt Lake City, UT and graduated from South High School in 1949. He received his degree in accounting from the U of U, and was a life-long fan of the Utes.
Drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served our Country from 1952-1954 and received an honorable discharge.
Served two full-time LDS missions: from 1955-1957 in the Norwegian Mission, and from 1999-2001 with his wife, Louan, as a Senior Missionary in the Florida, Tampa Mission.
Led a distinguished business career in the field of finance and leasing in Chicago, Salt Lake, Minneapolis, Southern California, and New York City.
Gordon was a faithful LDS church member who served in many callings including service in the Salt Lake and Bountiful temples. He had an unshakable testimony and was a dedicated disciple of Jesus Christ. He loved the youth and was instrumental in guiding numerous young men to serve missions. He was always a missionary and helped many people come unto Christ.
He is preceded in death by his son Gordon Scott Olsen. He is survived by his wife, Louan, brothers Leon (Kay) Olsen, Roydon (Liz) Olsen, and sister Joan (Duff) Olsen Ellsworth. Also survived by his children Diane (Tom) Naylor, Adriene (Gregg) Murray, Eric C. (Angie) Olsen, and Annemarie (John) Williams. Gordon and Louan are the proud grandparents of 40 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren.
