Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Grace Eleanor (Felton) Hone, age 90, passed away September 25, 2015 at Mountain Ridges Assisted Living, South Ogden, Utah.
She was born April 2, 1925 in Snyderville, Park City, Summit County Utah to George Lucius Felton and Jennie Ellen Fletcher Felton.
Grace attended schools in nearby Park City where she graduated from Park City High School with honors and a scholarship in music. She loved to sing, and studied music at the University of Utah under Professor Richard P Condie.
Grace grew up on the family farm in Snyderville, Summit County Utah, loving the farm life, being her father’s helper; liking outside work more than housework! She often helped with the milking then drove to Salt Lake to attend classes at the University of Utah; then drove back to Snyderville to help with the cows. Grace learned to work hard on the family farm as she also worked side by side with her mother to cook, do laundry and help take care of the hired farm hands. She became an excellent cook and later on in life she was well known for her delicious homemade rolls, pies, cakes, and cinnamon rolls.
During this time Glade Hone came to work for her father, they became acquainted while working together on the farm. They both loved to sing and fell in love while milking and singing to the cows. While serving in the US Navy during World War II, Glade came home on leave and they were married on April 15th 1946. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on January 29th 1947. They took up life in the “Little White House” across the creek on the Snyderville Farm, where she had been born. They were active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in all of the Wards and Stakes where they have lived; Park City; Tremonton; Hyrum; Castle Dale; and St George. They served 3 LDS Church missions: Bahia Blanca, Argentina, New York, Rochester, Washington D.C Temple.
She loved God; the Savior Jesus Christ; and the restored church; and all the Prophets that have served through the ages. Grace was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, baptized on March 25th 1944 after receiving a missionary pamphlet called “the Plan of Salvation” from two sister missionaries at their place of work in Salt Lake City. It was a miracle for her, and she never wavered from that day on.
She is the last survivor of her family of 4 sisters and 1 brother.
