Like a trick birthday candle, some flames are so eternal, they can never be extinguished. That sums up the eternal essence of Gracelyn Wilkinson.
At the young age of 20, Gracelyn has made more of an impact than many do in a century. Not because her life has been easy, but because it hasn’t. Thus her ability to connect with others through her empathy, love and compassion has been so life changing. The light that emanates from Grace has broken through the darkest of nights and has offered hope, inspiration and comfort to others on their own life journeys.
Born on May 28, 2004, Gracelyn came into this world sweet, feisty and full of love. She has always been creative, thoughtful, kind, a fan of all things colorful and has the quickest whit that would leave us doubled over in the most unexpected moments. To know her is to love her. She had big dreams and goals and wanted to make a big impact in this world. That gift just came wrapped in very different packaging than we expected.
After sustaining a life altering injury at the age of 14, Gracelyn has been fighting for her life for the last six years. There are no words to describe the immense suffering she has experienced. But most would never know the brutality of those midnight moments because of the way Grace showed up in the world. Service became her coping mechanism and elixir for healing and was the way she diverted her attention from the all-encompassing pain that wracked her petite body. She lit up the world with her flame of kindness, awareness and intention. Grace did little things with big love and made a lasting impact on all who crossed her path. She truly earned the nickname “Amazing Grace.” She is the founder of the “fight for light” initiative which gifted handmade bracelets and care packages to hundreds of pediatric patients fighting for their own lives, a singer songwriter with her own album - “Grace” - heard on the radio and streamed on all streaming platforms, expert handwritten note writer (as she dubbed them “kindness cards”), thoughtful gift giver, gourmet cook, organizational guru, pun queen, lover of swig drink runs with friends, baby whisperer, loyal friend, and fan of all things colorful.
Anxious to see her again are her adoring parents - David and Amanda Kjar Wilkinson; loving siblings - Emma, Ashton and Creed; along with a throng of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and cherished friends who have shown unwavering support to the very end. She was proceeded in death by her precious little brother, Bennett, who no doubt welcomed her with open arms when she transitioned to Heaven.
If you have been blessed by the light of our Amazing Grace, we invite you to join us in celebrating her life at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 26th, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Meetinghouse, 1050 East 100 North, Lindon, Utah where a viewing will be held Sunday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday afternoon from 11:00-12:15 p.m. prior to the celebration of life.
