Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Grant Hall Leonard peacefully passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at the age of 92 of natural causes. He was born February 5, 1912 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Miner Leonard and Lucy Ann Hall Leonard, the youngest of four children. He grew up in Salt Lake City, and graduated from LDS High School and the University of Utah with a Bachelor?s Degree in Business Management. He married Ida Reichmann in the Salt Lake Temple on October 27, 1938.

Grant worked for Kennecott Copper in the Kearns Building in the Salt Lake Office for seven years and at the Arthur Concentrator for 21 years. A few years after working in the Kearns Building, he owned and operated Leonard?s Ice Cream and Caf on 21st South and 21st East in Salt Lake City. He was very proud of the quality of ice cream that he made and sold.

Grant enjoyed jogging. At one time he was recognized by the Deseret Gym after jogging more than several thousand miles. He continued to walk on Davis Blvd. in Bountiful for many years. Grant also enjoyed playing tennis, and he was proud of winning the senior?s tennis doubles tournament at Liberty Park when he was 75 years old.

Grant was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in a number of callings in his lifetime. He was a caring husband and father and grandfather and was always willing to help his family and others when he saw the need.

He is survived by his four children, Louise Robert Chamberlain, Bountiful, UT.; Richard G. Lucille Leonard, Centerville, UT.; Dr. John R. Susan Leonard, Cheyenne, WY.; and Ida Jean Merrill Muir, Randolph, UT; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ida Reichmann Leonard; his brothers, Clarence Leonard and Richard Dick Leonard; and his sister, Lucille Tayler.

Special thanks to the caring staffs at Bountiful House Assisted Living Center, Dr. Nedda Hendler, and the staff of Community Nursing Services.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at 12:00 p.m. in the Val Verda Eighth Ward, Chapel Park 2285 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah. Friends and family may call Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, UT, and 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to the services.
