Our beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, Gregg Sheffield Tanner, passed away unexpectedly on October 12, 2018 at his home in Bountiful, Utah at the age of 42.
Gregg was born July 11, 1976 in Salt Lake City, the son of Steven Maurice and Suzanne Sheffield Tanner. He was the fourth of their six children. Gregg grew up in Bountiful and attended Leo J. Muir Elementary School, Mueller Park Jr. High, and Bountiful High School.
Gregg married Sarah Anne Morgan and they had a son, Carson. They were later divorced. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Gregg was very intelligent, charismatic, charming, full of energy, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed going on hikes and campouts. He loved music and was always listening to some. He also loved to read all different kinds of books. Gregg enjoyed sports, particularly football and basketball. His favorite teams were the University of Utah Utes, BYU Cougars, and the Utah Jazz.
Gregg is survived by his sons Carson Tanner, Farmington, Utah and Glayde Wells, Sandy, Utah; his mother Suzanne Tanner, Bountiful, Utah; his siblings, Michelle (Rich) Lakin, Stansbury Park, Utah; Valerie (Curtis) Taylor, Stansbury Park, Utah; Brian (Hope) Tanner, Layton Utah; Angie (Nick) Swallow, Stansbury Park, Utah. He was preceded in death by his father Steven Tanner, his brother Matthew Tanner, his grandparents, and an uncle Evan Sheffield.
Viewings will be held on Wednesday evening, October 17, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah and on Thursday, October 18th prior to the funeral, at the church, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. in the Bountiful 21st Ward Chapel at 115 E. Wicker Lane (1900 S. Orchard Dr.), Bountiful, Utah. Interment will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery.
