Gregory Donald Diven, a dedicated provider and avid runner, passed away on August 25, 2023, at the age of 73 in Garden City, Utah, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 4th, 1950, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Merriman Donald Diven and Christine Blanche Unuchek, Greg always enjoyed celebrating his birthday on Independence Day. He graduated from Mandeville High School in Mandeville, Louisiana, in 1968. Later, he attended Brigham Young University, earning a bachelor's degree in English and master's degrees in both English and Organizational Behavior. While at BYU, Greg joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, remaining a stalwart member throughout his life.
Greg married Hillary Moore of Bountiful, Utah, in 1971 and the two were married for 52 years. A successful businessman, Greg held leadership roles in several companies. He was the owner and CEO of OCM and recognized for his professionalism, strong work ethic, and dedication to his business and employees.
Greg was an accomplished runner, completing over 40 marathons and numerous half marathons. He also had a passion for writing, displaying a talent for storytelling and poetry. Recently, Greg and Hillary returned from a mission in the England Leeds Mission, where they served and worked with wonderful members and students in Hull, England.
A faithful husband and father, Greg was cherished by all who knew him, especially his family. He is survived by his wife Hillary Moore Diven, his sister Cathy Fehlis (William), his four children, and 13 grandchildren: Lesley (Mariha and Orion), Ted Diven (with spouse Shanna – Adisyn, Brookelle, Nathan, Corbin, Reese), Tracy Gorham (with spouse Micheal – Aiden, Olivia), and Erin Christison (with spouse Earl – Evelyn, Mabel, Georgie, Dagmar).
Greg's legacy is one of kindness, hard work, and unwavering dedication to his family, church, and community. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah.
Services will be streamed live on the Russon Brothers Mortuary Facebook page and on this obituary page. The live stream will begin about 10-15 minutes prior to the service and will be posted below.
