Gregory Taylor Kennard, 53, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family on October 24, 2024 after a very hard fought battle with autoimmune disease and liver failure. Greg was a loving son, grandson, husband, father and grandfather, and will be incredibly missed by all those who love him dearly.
Born to Joyce Taylor Kennard and Gary Smith Kennard in Salt Lake City, UT, Greg was the only boy in the middle of 4 adoring sisters. Greg’s childhood was filled with adventure and a big heart. He spent hours outside catching snakes, finding bugs, and fishing. Though he loved teasing his sisters, he had a sweet and gentle side. He cared for his family deeply. Greg’s playful, curious spirit touched everyone who knew him. Greg graduated from Cyprus High School in 1989.
Greg was a devoted and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a full-time mission in Columbus, Ohio from 1990-1992. Throughout his life, Greg served in numerous church callings and capacities, always willing to help and uplift those around him. Greg was christ-like, kind, accepting, and loving. He had an unwavering testimony of his Heavenly Father’s love, and his faith was such a source of strength to him.
On April 28, 1993, Greg married his sweetheart, Tiffany Conde, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they had 4 sons: Taylor Kevin Kennard, Tanner Banks Kennard, Trevin Smith Kennard, and Truman Conde Kennard. Above all, Greg loved his family unconditionally.
Greg was an incredibly skilled builder. He attended classes at Salt Lake Community College, and went on to earn both his General Contractor license and ICC International licenses. Greg worked at West Valley City Parks and Recreation, Rane Construction, and Okland Construction. Greg was the Plans Examiner for Wasatch County, and the Holladay City Building Official where he retired from in 2023. He was the proud owner of GT&T Construction and High Pointe Home Inspections. Greg’s work was known for its quality and attention to detail - he knew how to fix anything. Greg took great pride in working alongside his sons, and taught them by example how to work hard.
Greg rarely missed any of his sons’ sports games and is so proud of each of their accomplishments. At home, he loved working in the yard, on the pool, sitting at his koi pond, fixing and tinkering. His big red truck was one of his favorite things. Greg truly cherished time with his grandkids - they brought him so much joy and kept his playful spirit alive. He loved being their “Grumpa.”
Greg persevered through a difficult battle with autoimmune disease since his early twenties, facing each medical challenge with remarkable strength and resilience. Despite the physical toll and complications, he remained steadfast in his commitment to taking care of his family. He was tough and incredibly strong.
Greg is survived by his beautiful wife, Tiffany Conde Kennard, his sons Taylor (Abigail), Tanner (Elizabeth), Trevin and Truman Kennard, and his sweet grandchildren Molly Rose and Owen Taylor Kennard (Taylor and Abigail). He is also survived by his parents, Gary and Joyce Kennard, as well as his sisters, Amy, Cindy, Katie and Missy.
He is preceded in death by his loving grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
As a Kennard family, we are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support we’ve received during this time. It has been remarkable to witness how many lives greg touched.
