Grover Weston

d. August 19, 2008

Grover Dwayne Weston was reunited in heaven with many loved ones on August 19, 2008. He was born in Manassa, Colorado, on February 9, 1921 to Grover Cleveland Weston and Margaret Christensen Weston. He married his sweetheart, Etna Margaret Richins, in Chicago, Illinois, on September 14, 1943. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Dwayne served in the Navy during World War II and continued to serve his country in the Utah National Guard.

Dwayne’s greatest joys were his family, teaching the gospel, and serving others. He was an avid gardener, reader, and outdoorsman. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, his generosity, and his strong testimony of Jesus Christ. He believed in reaching out to those struggling with life’s various challenges. He was an active member of the LDS faith. Some of his callings were Gospel Doctrine Teacher, Project Temple, Stake Missionary, and Counselor in the Bishopric.

Dwayne is survived by his son-in-law Mike Sue Burningham of Bountiful, daughters JoAnn George Billings of West Jordan and Dianne Paul Lerdahl of Riverton, 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his daughter Sue, and four siblings.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 25, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bountiful 2nd Ward Chapel, 650 South 200 East, Bountiful. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, and Monday from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery.

Dwayne’s family would like to thank the Community Nursing Services hospice staff for their compassionate care during the final months of his life.
