H. Kent Francis

August 8, 1918 — October 2, 2018

After 100 years of devotion and service to his Heavely Father, Savior Jesus Christ, family, friends, and Country; our amazing “Poppy” passed away. Kent Francis died on October 2, 2018.
He was born August 8, 1918 to Howard and Jessie Francis in Morgan, Utah. He worked on his family farm, until he went to BYU. He graduated with a degree in chemistry.
He enlisted in the Army Medics for one year, then joined the Air Force fro three years, serving in World War II. After returning home, he worked fro the Utah State Department of Agriculture.
He married Donna Burch on November 20, 1946. They built their home in Bountiful and resided there the rest of his life. They were blessed with three children: Lee (Diane) Francis, Diane (Alan) Bangerter, Don (Linda) Francis.
He became the Utah State Chemist and held that position until he retired in 1983.
He served two LDS missions with his wife, held many ward and stake callings, and loved serving in the Bountiful Temple.
He is loved and revered by 12 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his precious wife, Donna.
The family would like to thank the staff at Legacy House for their friendship and care.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2018 at the Bountiful 31st Ward, 585 East Center Street. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Monday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
