H Mortensen

H. Boyd Mortensen, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on March 31, 2011. Boyd was the youngest child and only son born to Harry Bryan Mortensen and Myrtle Larson on August 13, 1930 in Cleveland, Utah. He graduated from North Emery High School and served an LDS mission to New England. He married Lucille Farthing in the Salt Lake Temple, June 8, 1953. Earning BA and MBA degrees from the University of Utah, he worked in corporate planning and finance. Boyd was an influence for good in all his endeavors. He blessed his children with a strong foundation in Christian living through his example of honesty, humility, learning and faith. He was a gospel scholar and master teacher with an enduring testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He faithfully served in many church callings, and for the last years of his life found immense satisfaction serving as a sealer in the Bountiful Utah Temple. His most cherished legacy is his family. He is survived by his eternal companion, Lucille, and their children, Charmaine (Ned), Melanie (Wilford), Robert (Elizabeth), Paula (Ralph), Neal (Anabelle), Mark (Kristina); thirty-two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and sisters Muriel Christensen, Lael Miller, and Ona Frandsen. Preceded in death by parents, sister Arva Lue Merrell and grandson Joel. Funeral services 11:00 am, Friday, April 8, LDS Chapel at 585 East Center St., Bountiful, Utah. Friends and family may call prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Humanitarian Services of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
