On Monday, March 14, 2016, Jean Morby, 92, passed away in the Bountiful home where she had lived for 60 years.
She was born June 27, 1923, in Milford, Utah, the oldest of four children of Kent M. and Hannah Heslington Smith. She lived a long and full life and was happy to return to her family.
Jean grew up in Milford, Utah, and graduated from Milford High School (1941) as valedictorian. She worked as a PBX Operator for the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1984.
Jean married Grant R. Morby on June 6, 1944 (D-Day) in Salt Lake City. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the kindest and gentlest of souls.
Jean is survived by her son, Kent Ray Morby, Bountiful, and her sisters Helen (Jim) Knippen, Wheaton IL, and Shirley (Melvin) Persons, Phoenix AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband Grant Morby (1984), her daughter Barbara Jean Morby (2015), and her brother Charles Kent Smith (2004).
The family would like to thank the staff of Community Nursing Services for their care and specifically Marissa who took both Jean and Kent to her heart. Kent would like to thank the women of Orchard 1st Ward who have carried him through the past eleven months with uncommon kindness and compassion.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016, at the Orchard First Ward, 3707 South 800 West, Bountiful, Utah, with the viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery, next to her husband and daughter.
