Hannelore Ehrler Mueller

September 10, 1930 — May 19, 2011

Hannelore Gisela Ehrler Mueller, 80 years old, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2011, at Bountiful, Utah. Hannelore was born on September 10, 1930 in Steinpleis/Saxony Germany to Kurt Arthur Ehrler and Martha Rosa Stoeckigt. Hannelore was a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She received her formal education in Germany and when she was 20 years old was called on a two-year, full-time mission to her homeland, East Germany. After her mission she joined her parents in West Germany where they had fled in 1952. In West Germany she met her eternal companion who was stationed in Germany with the US Army. In August of 1953, she immigrated to the United States and after a civil marriage on September 11, 1953, was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on November 18, 1953 for time and all eternity. Hannelore was blessed with a keen mind and although only speaking German when arriving in America in a very short time became fluent in English and in less than 5 years became an American citizen. She was very proud to be an American and never missed an election. Hannelore was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice and performed frequently as a child. When she was young, the American missionaries gave her a card with a picture of Temple Square and The Articles of Faith. They told her about the Salt Lake Temple and the Tabernacle Choir. From that time on she had three wishes: to come to America, to be married in the Salt Lake Temple, and to sing in the Tabernacle Choir. All three wishes were fulfilled. Together with her husband she sang in the Tabernacle Choir for 19 1/2 years and served with him on the Temple Square Concert Series Committee for 13 years. Professionally, she worked as a Research Histologist for the Anatomy Department of the University of Utah Medical School. She excelled at everything thing she did. She loved her family, the Gospel, missionary and temple work, and music. Together with her husband she fulfilled a Leadership Mission in the Salt Lake Inner-City Stake, a Temple Mission to the Freiberg Germany Temple, and served for 6 1/2 years in the Bountiful Temple. Preceded in death by her parents, her sister and one grand-daughter. She is survived by her husband Richard, and five children, Michael (Ila) Mueller, Patricia (Frank) Collins, Gordon (Yvonne) Mueller, Nancy (Thomas) Nelson, and John (Vickie) Mueller, 24 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.A Special thanks to the staff of Heritiage Place, Lakeview Hospital, and Community Nursing Service who all cared for her so tenderly. A viewing will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary at 295 North Main Street, Bountiful Utah from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2011.
