Harlan Turley

May 11, 1929 — July 18, 2013

Harlan Boyd Turley, 84, sweet husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013, from heart failure. He was surrounded by his loving family. Harlan was born on May 11, 1929, in Logan, UT to Walter Boyd and Edna Pickett Turley. He grew up in Garland, UT, and spent many summers at the farm in Malad, ID.

Harlan honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He met the love of his life, Afton Obray, and they were married on January 20, 1954, in the Logan Temple. He worked as a computer programmer for most of his life. Dad and mom had many good times traveling the world and spending time with their family. There are so many wonderful memories of great vacations our family went on. He was a hard worker, having lived on a farm for most of his childhood years. He loved to read, do crossword puzzles and he especially loved babies. He could always be found holding a baby in his arms. He truly loved his family, grandkids and great-grandkids. He was such a great man and we will miss him immensely.

Harlan is survived by his wife of 59 years, Afton, and by his four children: Marian (Ralph), Debbie (Daniel), Gary, and Merilee (Brent); 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Judy, and brothers, Max and Reese. His parents and sister, Marian, and 2 brothers, Alan and Grant, preceded him in death.

At his request, graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 23, at 11:00 a.m. at Bountiful City Cemetery. Friends and family may call Monday, July 22, from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and from 9-10:30 a.m. at Russon Brothers. Interment will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery.
