Harold Elmer passed away Sunday February 15, 2015. He was a wonderful Husband, Father and Grandpa. Harold was born in Payson Utah on November 28, 1926. His parents moved to Bingham where he attended school. He also played football and baseball for many years. He was nicknamed "Duke". He loved fishing and hunting every year. He was a very good skier and ice skater, plus a excellent swimmer. He always loved hunting and fishing.
Then when Pearl Harbor was attacked and bombed, Harold enlisted in the Navy. He served in the South Pacific on a tanker ship that fueled the ships in the fleet. Harold's ship was the USS Chikaskia. He delivered oil to ships in China, Japan and Singapore.
When Harold returned home to Utah he met his beautiful wife Lillian Griffin. He was a carpenter by trade and worked at the smelter and float mill. He built thousands of homes in Utah and California. He was always a kind and compassionate man. He treated his family with the upmost respect.
Harold and Riki had three children Dan(Connie) Elmer, Dixie(Dave) Crary, Becki(Paul) Buchannan, and four grandchildren Zack Elmer, Laura Blackwelder, Kody Crary, Shayne Buchanan.
We want to thank the wonderful nursing staff and the professional wound care unit at Life Care Center of Bountiful. The CNA's Tyler, Colby, Holley and Dakota also Michelle and Brian that took extra care and time with Harold. We appreciate you all. Plus the staff of Brighton Hospice Care, Alice Bosworth, Leta and Kassie.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Farmington City Cemetery, 200 East 500 South. A viewing will be held Friday morning 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, prior to services. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com. He's gone fishing!!
