Heinz Poike passed away at his home in Salt Lake City on January 21,2017 of natural causes. He was 86 years old. He was born February 21,1930 in Loebau Sachsen Germany to Julius Otto Poike and Anna Martha Doering. He married Annemarie Schlenz on Feb. 13, 1959 and later divorced. He is preceded in death by his daughter Heike Poike and great granddaughter Lyric Poike.
He is survived by his son Juergen H. Poike and Ute Cloward. On July 7, 1973 he moved to the United States with his three children. He got a job with a friend laying carpet. Later he got a job at Eimco as a welder.
He loved his family very much and did the best he could. He liked to travel especially to Germany where he still has family. He loved helping people. He was a faithful member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Saints. He loved the gospel and the Temple where he visited often. He served in the Bishopric as a Second Counselor, he taught Sunday School, He was in the High Priest Group, he was the singles representative for the Ward. He taught German to the Missionaries at the MTC in Provo. At the time of his death he was a Volunteer at the LDS Employment office in Salt Lake.
He was a great disciple of out Heavenly Father. He touched a lot of lives for the better. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2017 at the North Point 1st Ward, 1460 No. Morton Dr., Salt Lake City, where a viewing will be held from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
