Helen Francom

December 1, 1921 — October 27, 2014

Helen was born in Ogden, Utah, December 1, 1921, first child of Porter Squires Tillotson and Buena May Anderson.
She was raised in Ogden and attended Weber State College and Utah State University, graduating in Elementary Education.
While at USU she met Farrel Jay Francom and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple, March 14, 1945.
Helen and Farrel raised their family of five children in the state of Washington. Later, they lived in Sandy and Brigham City, Utah. Helen, having taught prior to her marriage, resumed her teaching career in Moses Lake, Washington, at the age of 44. She taught primarily first grade, and loved teaching children to read. She was a very conscientious and effective teacher, and often the most challenging students were placed in her class because she was able to teach them to read. She continued her teaching career in Sandy, Tremonton and Brigham City. She retired after teaching for 20 years.
Helen was a committed and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, participating fully wherever she lived. Helen and Farrel served two years as missionaries in Scotland, the home of some of her ancestors.
As Farrel’s health declined, they relocated to the warmer climate of St. George, Utah. Farrel passed away unexpectly (1996) after living in St. George less than a year.
Helen passed away October 27, 2014 in Layton, Utah, and is survived by five children: Karen (Rodney) Grondel, Steven (Sally) Francom, Daren (Christine) Francom, Denise (Dale) Breckon, and Diane (Mike) Belnap, sisters Marion Moore and Joyce Robertson, twenty-seven grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren. Helen’s brother, Joseph Tillotson, and grandson, Todd Murdock, preceded her in death.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, November 8, 2014, at the Main Street LDS Chapel (500 South Main) in Kaysville. Visitations will be Friday evening, November 7, from 6-8 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary (1941 North Main Street) in Farmington, UT, and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:15 prior to the services at the chapel. Interment will be at Tremonton Riverview Cemetery at 2 pm following the funeral service.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Apple Tree Assisted Living, Pheasant View Assisted Living, Dr. Glen Biddulph, Dr. Robert Treft and AFI Advanced Care for their loving and selfless service to Helen.
