Together Again

Loved daughter, wife, and mother Helen Jane Bowes Kunze passed away on June 29, 2013. She was born at home in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 16, 1922 to Cleone Johanna Mork and Wilbert Melbourne (Billy) Bowes. She is survived by her children: Douglas (Betty), Lois (Gary) Weagle, Don, Dale (Mary), and Sue (John) Whaley, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, son (David), and granddaughter.

She married Paul Verdean (Dean) Kunze on May 20, 1943 and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on May 21, 1951. She was an active member of the L.D.S. church with many callings in Relief Society, Primary, Sunday School, and Cub Scouts. She and her husband served a Spanish Name Extraction mission and she also fulfilled a service mission in the Member Location Department. She became a diploma registered nurse in 1943 from Salt Lake General Hospital. She worked at Salt Lake General Hospital, University of Utah Medical Center, and Community Nursing Services Home Health and Hospice. After she retired she worked at the Utah State University Extension office in Salt Lake City.

Helen’s family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Alta Ridge Holladay Care Center for their wonderful care and to Millcreek Hospice for her end of life care. She wanted to leave this council to her children “Love one another and your extended family and friends. Remember the example set for you by your Father. Share special times and remember the teachings you have been given. I am proud to be your mother. Please don’t mourn my leaving you. I am happy to go be with my dear husband, Dean.”

A viewing will be held on Friday, July 5, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South Salt Lake City, Utah. Online guestbook available at www.russonmortuary.com
