Centerville Utah – Days away from her 95th birthday, Helen passed away peacefully on a beautiful winter’s morning. Helen was the oldest daughter of Thomas Albert and Emily Rockwood Lee, and survived all her brothers and sisters.
Helen never married or had children, yet she loved and cared for her family, nieces, nephews and was the care taker when both her parents passed away. Helen worked for the Army during WWII and happy to be busy while she waited for her brother to return from serving in Europe.
Helen loved flowers, every summer her yard was on display with beautiful Shasta daisies, tulips and her summer favorites.Helen is happy to return home to her Heavenly Father and longed to be back with her beloved parents. Helen is a member of the LDS church and loved to play the piano and organ.
She is survived by Anita Haddon of Syracuse and Lila Johannessen of Sandy Utah and many nieces and nephews.
This was found in Helen’s wallet:
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free,
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
to laugh, to love, to work or play.
I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Oh, yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and peace to thee,
God wanted me now; he set me free.
