“Fred” as he was known by, passed away January 14, 2013 after a short but hard- fought battle with liver disease. Fred was born in Kiel, Germany at the height of World War II and as a young boy experienced many hardships and trials. He and his parents later immigrated to the United States when he was 10 years old and moved to Bountiful, Utah where he later became a proud American citizen.
Fred always had a fascination with trains both large and small. He loved anything electronic and craved to have the latest and greatest, especially calculators. He also loved the movies and saw just about every film Hollywood released.
Fred served an honorable LDS mission to Austria. He was a life-long active member of the Church and served faithfully in many positions throughout his life. He was always willing help in any service capacity.
Fred served his country for several years in the US Army Reserves. He attended Weber College and later Brigham Young University where he earned his degree. He worked for the state of Utah in the Archives department, then Dynatronics, National Semiconductor, Zions Securities, and the University of Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Enno and Herta Wally Koecher and his brother Rolf. He is survived by his brother Dave (Wendy) and sister-in-law Deanne along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 18th at noon at the Val Verda 2nd Ward Chapel, 3317 South 800 West, Bountiful. Friends and family may visit Thursday evening between 6 and 8 pm at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main , and Friday at the 2nd Ward Chapel one hour prior to the service.
