The loved ones of Henry “Hank” Mack Smith, age 92, bid a fond and temporary farewell to him on August 20, 2018. Henry was born to Arthur and Helen MacKnight Smith on October 18, 1925, in Price, Utah. He served in the U.S. Navy at age 17, followed by the U.S. Merchant Marines. He studied at Carbon College in Price and the University of Utah.
Henry married Darlene Strang on January 2, 1949, in Price, Utah. He was employed at Sears Roebuck as a furniture and carpet salesman, eventually opening his own successful carpet company in 1953 in Bountiful, Utah. Henry’s Carpet operated for over 50 years. Henry also worked with Weber Basin Water Development. He was also manager of Henry Chapman Smith land development and was a partner in the Smith-Byrd property sales and subdivision development.
Henry was one of the original members of the Oakridge Country Club and he proudly served as a member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars in Price, Utah. He also was a member of the Bountiful Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Bountiful Elks Club, and was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1982.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Darlene, his brother A. Neal Smith, a great grandson, Jandson Berry, and his second wife, Martha Lawrence. He is survived by his children, Linda (Orval) Hayes and Debra Bradshaw, seven grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren, all whom he loves dearly.
Services for Henry will be held Friday, August 24, 2018, at 11:00 am, at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah. Friends may greet the family at the mortuary prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:45 am. Interment at Bountiful City Cemetery.
