Henry Boyd Shelton, 89, passed away on December 17th 2009 in Bountiful Utah. Born July 27, 1920 to Henry Miller Shelton Jr. and Annie Maria Baker in Mendon Utah. He was the middle child having two sisters Mary Alice and Ethel Marie. He spent most of his childhood in Cache valley. Graduate of Logan High School. Married Helen Morrell November 15th 1941 in Logan, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Veteran of WWII serving in England in the 603rd Bomber Squadron 398th Bomb Group in the Army Air Force. After the war Henry and Helen made their home in Salt Lake City where they raised 4 children. Henry worked in various mechanic positions before joining the Salt Lake City Fire Department in 1950. He advanced to rank of Captain and retired in 1976. He was an amazing resourceful man. It was believed he could fix or build just about anything with practically nothing. After retirement he and Helen traveled the country in their converted motor home. They enjoyed playing cards, ballroom and square dancing. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and spending as much time as possible with family. He spent the last few years of his life lovingly caring for Helen. His love and devotion to her was an example to all of us. He is survived by wife Helen, of Bountiful, and four children: David Nancy Shelton, Citrus Heights, Ca; Gary Diane Shelton, Kaysville, Ut; Marilyn Peterson, West Valley, Ut; Dianne Ray McCarty, West Valley, Ut; 13 Grandchildren and 28 Great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, where a visitation will be held from 9:45-10:45am prior to services. Interment-Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Salt Lake City.
